Teleclasses - Frequently Asked Questions

< Back

What is a TeleWorkshop? TeleWorkshops are live, interactive training classes conducted over the telephone through state-of-the-art teleconferencing bridge systems. You and the other registrants call a US phone number at your class time and you are welcomed by the TeleLeader.

You do not need a computer in order to be in the class. All you need is a regular phone - land line highly preferred. Note: The cost to call one of our bridges is a standard long distance charge. There are no conferencing fees, so you would just pay your long distance carrier whatever your rates are. Most US carriers charge $3-6 an hour for long distance, so the cost is minimal.

What distinguishes a TeleWorkshop from a regular telephone conference call? TeleClasses/workshops are conducted by individuals trained in the art of delivering content-rich information in a way that evokes high participation from all attendees.

How effective is the BYY Coach Teleleader if they cannot see the participants? Our trained BYY TeleLeaders use a skill set which is uniquely designed to develop rapport with every participant on the TeleWorkshop. Based on an understanding of the four ways people process information, our BYY TeleLeader 'tunes in' to what is being communicated, how it is being communicated and how well the information is understood.

Don't people need to be in a classroom setting to be in a learning mode? Actually, adults learn best in one-hour blocks of time. We have found that people want to learn when they are invited to participate and contribute to the subject being taught.

Can you explain the long distance call fees involved? The tele-conference systems that we use are located in the USA. You will incur your normal long-distance charges.

What happens after I sign up for the class?
Within 24 hours after you have signed up for a BYY TeleWorkshop, you will get an email confirming your registration and giving you the Telephone Bridge number and time for you to dial into the TeleWorkshop.

Do you have a refund policy?
You may postpone your participation in a workshop up to three days before the class starts. You may use your fee to register for another teleworkshop program scheduled within six months of the initial class for which you registered.

Please contact Erinj@bestyearyet.com to postpone or transfer your registration. If you did not attend the first teleworkshop (no-show), no refund or transfer is applicable. Best Year Yet is a yearlong program and no further refund is available after you begin your program.

So, when I dial the telephone bridge number, what happens ?
Dial the telephone bridge number at the exact time of your TeleWorkshop. (Note: the times listed are in US Eastern time). You will hear a recording asking for a PIN or Access Code and enter it. Wait to be welcomed and acknowledged, in most cases you will hear the TeleLeader say, "who has joined us that we have not heard from", just state your first name. The TeleWorkshop begins promptly at 2 minutes after the listed start time.

My bridgeline is ringing endlessly, what does this mean?
If you call the bridge and the phone rings endlessly, this could mean:

  • Wrong Bridge Number. Of course, you'll want to locate and dial the correct bridge number.

  • Number was Misdialed. Check the number and dial again carefully.

  • Called Early/First Caller. If you are the first caller, the phone will ring endlessly until someone else calls in - then you'll be automatically connected. If you are first or early, let it ring about 15-20 times, hang-up and call again.

  • Translated the Time Incorrectly. You may want to review time translations at www.timeanddate.com.

I live in a country other than the United States. Can I call in to TeleClasses?

Yes. We have callers from all over the world calling into our BYY Teleworkshops as the cost of international long distance continues to drop. You are most welcome. English is the language of all current BYY Teleworkshops, and you are invited to ask questions, no matter how 'good' your English is. You will find our TeleLeaders to be a very encouraging and delightful group and you will feel at home with them, no matter what your country of residence or origin is.
